Game Day Guacamole

It’s Super Bowl Sunday! Guacamole is a nutritious but satisfying treat on Game Day. You can whip it up in no time at all!

Fans of cilantro will love to add it into this recipe. Unfortunately, my husband and I do not agree on my love of cilantro. So for Game Day, I left it out.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe Hass avocado, mashed

  • 10 cherry tomatoes, quartered

  • 1/2 fresh jalapeno (use the seeds for heat), minced

  • 1/2 onion, minced

  • Juice and zest of 1 lime

  • Salt and pepper

  • Optional, 1 TBS freshly chopped cilantro

  • Optional, hot sauce or cayenne pepper

Directions

  • Mash the avocado into a medium-sized bowl – for tip on mashing, see below.
  • Season mashed avocado with juice and zest of lime.
  • Quarter cherry tomatoes. Add to the bowl.
  • Mince jalapeno. Keep the seeds if you want the heat.
  • Mince onion.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add any optional ingredients.
  • Stir to combine.
  • Serve with chips for game day!

Notes

  • Tip: To remove the pit from the avocado, cut the avocado in half. Then using the knife, poke the pit. Spin the knife a quarter of a turn, and the pit should come right out. You can then score the avocado with a knife and spoon it easily out into your bowl. By scoring it first, the avocado is nearly mashed making the next step very simple.
