Today is New Year’s Eve. My underage daughter wanted a treat to toast the festivities at midnight, so she decided to make lemonade from scratch using fresh lemons. It came out so tasty, that I decided to share the recipe.
Freshly Squeezed Lemonade

8 lemons, yield 1 cup of juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water (for simple syrup)
1 cup of water
Ice
Directions
- Add sugar and water to a pot. Heat until the sugar dissolves. Put to the side.
- Squeeze lemons.
- Using a strainer, add the juice of the lemons into a measuring cup. Continue squeezing until you have one cup of juice.
- Add ice to a pitcher.
- Pour lemon juice and simple syrup over ice.
- Add additional water to pitcher. Mix and serve.
Notes
- Make it a cocktail by adding a shot of lemon vodka!
- Make it an Arnold Palmer by adding a cup of freshly brewed iced tea!
