Hot honey is all the rage right now. I didn’t realize how easy it was to make. Best part is by making it yourself, you can adjust the flavors of the honey, vinegar, or level of heat. Check out this so simple condiment recipe.

1 cup honey – see note
2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (add more or less depending on how hot you like it)
2 tsp fruit vinegar, like apple cider – see note
Directions
- Add 1 cup of honey to sauce pan.
- Add 2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes.
- Turn on heat to medium, and heat up the honey stirring while it heats. Once it boils, turn off the heat.
- Add vinegar and stir.
- Let the mixture cool for a few minutes, then strain the red pepper flakes.
- Add to your favorite dish, like fried chicken.
Notes
- I love to go to gourmet vinegar stores, like Blue Moon in Mount Holly, New Jersey, or Sticky Situations, in Lahaska, PA. I used the Harvest Riesling for this recipe, and it was the perfect compliment to the honey. Sticky Situations also says different gourmet honeys so you could even use one of them to change the flavor – like strawberry honey.
