Chocolate Ghost and Bat “Croissants”

What’s better than a hot chocolate croissant? Shaping it into a fun Halloween bat or ghost! Although not technically a croissant, this recipe uses Pillsbury crescent dough for the buttery taste of a croissant without all the work. Kids will celebrate the Halloween festivities with the cute shapes.

Back when I was a kid, I used to remember enjoying a delicious chocolate croissant in Canada on family vacations. When I bit into this recipe, it brought me back to those delicious pastries. And it only took 20 minutes to re-create the gooey, chocolate delight.

Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated crescent rolls, like Pillsbury

  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

  • 8 red chocolate melting chips (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Spread out crescent roll dough and divide into pre-measured triangles.
  • Into each triangle, add a teaspoon of mini chocolate chips and top with a red melting wafer.
  • To make a bat, pull the short side of the triangle to stretch it so you will have two equal-length wings. Then fold up the middle corner. Shape the ears and wings with your hands. Then add a chocolate chip mouth and 2 eyes.
  • To make the ghost, Fold the dough in half. Then round the head. Pull down the tail to make it look like the bottom of a ghost. Then add a chocolate chip mouth and 2 eyes.
  • Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Enjoy warm or cool. When you bite in, the red melting wafer will ooze for a bloody good Halloween effect.

Notes

  • You can use other fillings. One idea is mini marshmallows with the chocolate chips to make s’mores treats.
